The Brocton Online was re-launched yesterday to include a number of new interactive features that will hopefully make the website a more valuable resource to the local community. The new site allows users to post news articles, announcements, and events directly to the site as well as discuss issues in a community forum. Other innovations that are in the pipeline include opinion polls where users will be able to quickly vote on a range of local. There is also the possibility of offering @brocton.org.uk email addresses.

The website was originally started in late 1998 as a joint venture between the Community Council of Staffordshire and local resident Dan Durrans. The Community Council were driving to provide every town and village in Staffordshire with a website that could inform the community of local issues. Dan Durrans, local school boy, wrote the site at the time and it prospered for a while however when he went to University interest and updates dwindled. After returning from university Dan decided the site needed a revamp and instigated a revitalisation scheme to improve its facilities.

The new website is, in many ways, similar to the old but with new features added in for the benefit of its users. However the website will not update itself and it needs the help of people from the local community to add content, announcements, and events so that it can truly become a useful resource. If there is any content you think should be on the site or you have a suggestion for a new feature then please sign up to the community forum and voice your opinion!
