Visit To Milford Exchange

A few weeks ago I received an invite from BT to attend a quick tour of the broadband equipment that has just been installed in the Milford Exchange.

The invitees to the Exchange includes myself, David Kidney MP and from BT Ian Binks, Jerry Roper and Bill Richards. David Kidney also thought it would be a good idea to involve a local school so 4 pupils from Berkswich Primary School accompanied by Assistant Head Sarah Weatherhead also came.

A picture or two for the Staffordshire Newsletter (thankfully not 'to cheesy') then a quick look at the actual kit. The exchange itself is now half empty since all the ancient Strowger swtchgear was removed and replaced with computerised switchgear. The ADSL kit consisted of a couple of racks of Alcatel sourced equipment with a fibre connection into the high speed backbone and a connection to a large wiring loom where all the lines to everyones house seem to arrive.

At the end BT gave David Kidney an XBox to present to the school for use or to raffle off for school funds.
